   Plainfield Permits April 15, 2017    A permitting solution from  Downtown Plainfield Alliance  to help address a local community's zoning compliance issues. The site shows permit requirements and gives step-by-step instructions on how to file a specific permit. All in a simple, mobile-friendly, and easy-to-use format.

  Greenhouse Farms - Coming Soon   An economic development exercise to envision what a next generation grocery store geared towards millennials would look like. By combining high intensity solar panels, industrial aeroponics technology, a factory, special lighting, numerous state and federal grants, utility grants, tax incentives, urban agriculture educational partnerships and a unique shopping experience, customers would have the ability to pick their food straight from the vine for the first time in history in a traditional commercial setting. Now it doesn't get fresher than that!

  Newark Area BRT/Rail/Light Rail/PATH Map   I was having trouble finding a good Newark transit map that featured Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)...so I made one. The map includes all modes of transportation, including the Newark Light Rail, heavy rail, and the PATH.

I was having trouble finding a good Newark transit map that featured Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)...so I made one. The map includes all modes of transportation, including the Newark Light Rail, heavy rail, and the PATH.

  Newark Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Expansion    Bus Rapid Transit in the form of NJ Transit's GO Bus has made traveling on Springfield Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue a breeze, however the system only goes a limited distance up those main drags. By expanding the Springfield Avenue line in both directions, and the Bloomfield Avenue line to Montclair, it can better connect highly populated areas, such as the Ironbound, to points west of Downtown Irvington, namely Maplewood and terminating in Springfield. It will also give Montclair direct access to Newark Penn Station and Newark Airport.

  North Avenue Pedestrian Mall - Plainfield, NJ   With so many cities installing pedestrian malls these days (New York City, Jersey City, Somerville, etc.), I envisioned Plainfield with a Pedestrian Mall. North Avenue is the perfect location for a pedestrian mall, and makes the most sense given the stores and restaurants on the block, the historic facades lining both sides of the street and a revamped city parking lot nearby. I decided to take a crack at a SketchUp rendering of the pedestrian mall.

  Mack Truck Plant Redevelopment   Automotive giant Mack Trucks had a factory in Plainfield, NJ's West End neighborhood that used to be thriving. But like most northern factories in the US, the plant eventually closed, leaving a shell of its past along with unemployment, underutilization and blight. This site planning design exercise reutilizes key historical buildings and proposes new structures in order to redevelop the site to better suit the community's needs, calling for many new uses including: Loft apartments, Live/Work Artist Space,  Retail Space including an indoor community market & food market, o  ffice space, a c  onference center, a c ommunity center, new open space & rooftop deck.
